As we all know, we are living in tumultuous economic times as a result of this pandemic and that is why it is so important that we support Irish businesses where possible. Soilse is a wonderful Irish candle company that produces 100% soy wax candles in minimal waste packaging. We all need to escape from the pressures and stresses of life every now and then and Soilse’s candles are the perfect way to do so. Scented candles are a form of aromatherapy and the essential oils that they are infused with have a calming effect when inhaled.
Soilse is the Gaelic word for light or brightness, it evokes stillness, comfort and warmth and is a very fitting name for a candle company. The Louth-based company was founded by designer Karen Lavelle. Karen worked as a fashion designer for Gap in New York for 11 years before returning home to Ireland. Overwhelmed by the natural beauty of her home country, she was inspired to create scented candles, each with a unique fragrance that encapsulates a specific aspect of the Irish landscape.
Soilse has two tantalizing candle and diffuser collections, the Irish Candle Collection and the Apothecary Collection. Both collections include fragrances that depict various facets of Ireland’s natural beauty, such as the misty rain of the shores of Connemara, the sweet wildflowers that inhabit country lanes, a traditional Irish turf fire and the wild heather and oak moss that blanket the Donegal countryside. The Irish Candle Collection includes travel sized versions of each fragrance which come in a convenient aluminum travel tin. The candles in the Apothecary Collection come in beautiful recyclable amber jars which can be reused around the house to store various items such as, plants, cotton buds or spices. Each hand poured candle is made with 100% soy wax and naturally produced essential oils.
